2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

While the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 gets its first major redesign since the 2007 model, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD won't get the same treatment until next year. Changes for 2014 include a standard 4.10:1 rear axle ratio for gasoline-engine models that improves acceleration off the line and increases towing capacity by 4,500 lbs. A spray-on bedliner is available, as is a bi-fuel version of the 6.0-liter engine that's capable of running on gasoline or compressed natural gas (CNG).

This 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD is all about getting down to business. Autotrader.com said: "While today's pickup can be all things to all people, heavy-duty pickups remain a breed apart. And perhaps no others in that category stand quite so proudly as Chevrolet's 2500HD and 3500HD. With a fully boxed frame and an optional Duramax diesel driving through an Allison transmission, these trucks weren't designed for making a coffee run to Starbucks. Rather, they were designed to build the Starbucks itself."

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is available in regular and crew cab body styles at dealers like your MILFORD Chevrolet Dealer, with either two- or four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive comes in especially handy when dealing with slippery weather conditions like rain or snow. Regular cabs come with a long bed (8 ft.). Crew cabs are offered with a standard bed (6.5 ft.) or with the long bed. There are three trim levels to choose from: Work Truck, LT and LTZ. The latter is only offered with the long bed.

Powering the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD a standard 6.0-liter V-8 engine that makes 360 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. As mentioned previously, the bi-fuel option allows the truck to run on either gasoline or compressed natural gas, although the power drops to 301 horsepower and 333 lb.-ft. when running on CNG. Drivers planning on doing a lot of towing or hauling will want to check out the available turbocharged 6.6-liter diesel V-8, which generates 397 horsepower and 765 lb.-ft. of torque, paired with a different six-speed automatic.

Hauling power maxes out at 3,670 lbs., or 4,212 lbs when outfitted with the high-payload Performance package. Towing capacity is 13,000 lbs. with the standard ball hitch and 17,800 lbs. with a fifth-wheel.

Standard safety equipment includes four-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist. The traction control feature works along with the anti-lock brakes to prevent loss of traction if the wheels start to slip when encountering conditions such as rain, snow or ice. Other standard safety features include stability control, trailer sway control, hill-start control, driver airbags and front-passenger airbags. All models have optional front seat side airbags, side curtain airbags, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
